The thing about this epilator from Braun is that it doesn’t really feel like you are epilating when you are using it. Ultimately, this is a good thing since epilation processes can really be uncomfortable and even upfront painful, so it is very fortunate that we can opt to get the Braun Silk Epil 3 Epilator since it is specifically engineered to provide painless epilation. Braun was able to do this by incorporating into the epilator massaging rollers that you cannot find in other epilators. The rollers stimulate and massage the skin softly, and so inflicting the least pain possible on the skin area you are working on, us women loved that don’t we!
Painless epilation is the best factor with this epilator as the fact that you don’t have to think twice about using the Braun Silk Epil 3 to work with even the most delicate parts of your body. We tested the epilator for underarms and the bikini area and it did a great job, even though some other epilator brands are not really recommended to use for those sensitive, the Braun epilator did a great job. This is the same with Emjoi AP-18 epilator we reviewed, it also works flawlessly for your entire body.
Like most other Braun models, this one also makes full use of the Smartlight, which in my opinion is a really convenient and effective feature in terms of letting you know should you miss any hair on the area you are working on, so you can skip the part where you have to manually check and then let the epilator pass the same area over and over again. That would require more effort, more time, and more discomfort on you. Even the finest of hairs cannot miss the meticulous than life Smartlight, a true and reliable friend, this epilator beats it’s competitor the Remington Smooth and Silky Full Size Epilator.
Many epilator users are concerned about the mobility of these epilators, especially for those who are used to utilizing one of those disposable razors. Well to be fair, disposable razors are really easier to control and maneuver around the skin area, but not in a million years would I recommend you to use razors when you have the option to use epilators. See, epilating would give you the best results as compared to what you can get when using disposable razors or even when you wax! Epilating, especially with the Braun Silk Epil 3 Epilator, would allow you to be flawless for one whole month from the day you use it. This means that you can have a lot of free time whereas with razor shaving and waxing you have to repeat the process every 5 days, which can be time consuming.
If you are worried about the manoeuvrability of this epilator, then this epilator is for you as you have different speed options. For your first few times and for when you are working on a delicate area, simply set the epilator on the slower mode so that you can get the hang of it first, and then you can move on to the higher speed set up when you have already mastered the way the epilator moves! This is a good option especially for us girls who are always on the run and cannot really spend more than an hour just getting rid of these unwanted hairs all over the body.
Another technology introduced in this unit that really impressed me would be the softlift technology, which basically lifts up the hair that are lying down, it does not shave the hairs but it makes them erect so the tweezers get rid of the hairs from the root. This is also a factor as to how the epilator can actually minimize the pain that normally comes with epilation. However I recommend you also read our guide on the best facial hair removal creams as there are more epilators that you may like to read about first.
Epilators usually work like a normal pair of tweezers in terms of mechanism. However, this one from Braun actually has 20 tweezers working together, and so diminishing the time needed if you were to use a normal pair of tweezers to remove all the hair from your body. Take note, however, that this is not a wet and dry epilator, so it is not to be immersed in water. It also has a cord for power supply, so you cannot use it without plugging it in. These are minor issues for me, but if they bother you so much, you can always consider other models from Braun. They also have wet and dry epilators and those that are wireless, if you are not really able to look beyond those features.
